If there is one thing I have learned in my two years at Berea College, it is that the students here are of a ructious and complaining character. This is one of the things I love most about our community, which is why I have decided to found The Berea Torch.
No one likes screaming into the void, so from now on, you can scream into our newspaper by submitting articles, opinion pieces and creative prose. The Berea Torch is independently funded by students and our priority will always be to give a voice to students from all corners of campus.
We have no affiliation with the college administration and do not plan for it. The newspaper will be organized by students for students from beginning to end. The newspaper will hold the college accountable for its mistakes and errors.
We hope to see the newspaper develop into a space for academic, investigative and creative expression. While we will always be a place for discussions and debates, the newspaper will never promote discrimination or hatred of any kind and no such behaviour will be condoned.
At the moment, we are an online-only space, but plans for physical copies of The Berea Torch are already underway. If you are interested in receiving physical copies, then please email us.
General inquiries of all kinds should be sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org
We expect to see you here often!
